Stockpiling - Why Are You Hoarding the Goods??
>> Tuesday, April 26, 2011
In light of the new Extreme Couponing show and the insane stockpiles that borderline "hoarding" the show features - I have many people asking why do you want to create a stockpile? Well, for me it's simple - I like to stock up on the items that I need and use on a daily basis so that I can get them for the lowest possible price and never have to "quick run to the store" and pay full price for something that I could have couponed for and gotten for free or nearly free. I may not have quite the extreme stockpile as featured on the show, but I have a modest assortment of items that I need and use constantly. There was a report from Reuters this morning stating that P&G is raising their prices again on items such as diapers, wipes, paper towels, and toilet paper - making my stockpile even more valuable to me! What are your thoughts? Do you stockpile? Why do you or don't you?
"CHICAGO, April 25 (Reuters) - Procter & Gamble Co (PG.N) confirmed on Monday that it is raising prices on Pampers diapers and wipes, Bounty paper towels and Charmin toilet paper in the United States, as it faces soaring costs for energy and materials.
The world's largest household products manufacturer said the average list price increases are 7 percent on Pampers diapers, 3 percent on Pampers wipes and 5 percent on both Bounty and Charmin paper goods.
The list price increases were announced to retailers last week. Prices that shoppers see are ultimately set by stores.
The latest moves come about a month after P&G announced plans to raise U.S. detergent prices 4.5 percent [ID:nN18128833].
Rival Kimberly-Clark Corp (KMB.N) said on Monday that materials, energy and transportation are set to cost more than twice as much as it expected this year. [ID:nN25143359]. It already announced price increases on Huggies diapers, wipes, training pants and some toilet paper in March. (Reporting by Jessica Wohl)"
